Wrong Queue and On Purpose

At the post office I hovered near the counter and stepped into the wrong line when a space opened up. Someone behind me tutted and I pretended not to hear. I did it because I was late and because I could. I stood there with my parcel, heart thumping like I'd pulled off a heist, which is ridiculous. The worst part is I kept doing it in small places where nobody wants a scene. It's a tiny ugliness, but it felt like power.
