They were drunk enough to struggle standing and kept laughing everything off. I knew they wouldn’t remember clearly. I didn’t check. I didn’t slow down. I let it happen because it was easier than stopping. The next day they asked what they’d done and I told them it had all been mutual, normal, fine. They nodded like they were accepting a story they couldn’t verify. I never corrected it. I relied on the gaps in their memory and my confidence filling them in.
