Stayed Silent to Protect 'Me'

I saw someone being slowly edged out and said nothing. Not because I agreed, but because speaking up would have made things awkward for me. Each time I stayed quiet, it got easier. When the person stopped coming around, I told myself it wasn't my fault. I know better now. Silence played a part.
