Read Messages - Not Mine

The notebook was already open and my name was visible in one subject line. I clicked it, then another, then kept going. Some messages were private, some were personal, and all of them were none of my business. I closed the notebook carefully, like that undid it. Later, I acted on things I shouldn't have known, and I could feel the line I'd crossed even as I pretended it wasn't there.
