Kept Them Always Doubting

When they confronted me, I didn't just deny it, I dismantled them. I'd say they were imagining things, that they always got confused, that they were too sensitive. Slowly they began apologising for being upset, and I felt powerful because it kept things easy for me. I knew it was wrong and I did it anyway, because it worked. The damage showed up later in the way they hesitated over their own memories.
