On a Tuesday morning, I told my wife I was popping to the corner shop for milk. I drove to Heathrow instead, got on a plane to Thailand with a backpack and my savings. My kids were 4 and 6. I've sent a birthday card with £20 in it every year since, with no return address. They are teenagers now. I am a ghost who posts cards.
