We were racing, me and a lad I just met. Going 95 in a 30 zone. A man stepped off the kerb to cross. I swerved but clipped him. He flew. We both sped off. No CCTV. I read the obituary: "Devoted teacher, struck by hit-and-run driver." I still have the trophy from the car meet that night.
