The Online Grandson Scam
I posed as a young squaddie overseas, "grandson" to a sweet, lonely woman in her 70s in Bournemouth. I told her I needed money for a flight home on emergency leave. She sent £7,200 from her retirement savings via bank transfer. I ghosted. I saw her pleading posts in the Facebook group we'd met in.
