Japan was our first choice for launching trial sales of our Coffee Blends, developed under the Forbidden Magic Energy Drinks and Shingaro Super Fruit & Energy Drinks brands.
We engaged Masayuki Kitano, a trusted collaborator with a strong track record on previous Jagger Consultants projects. Mr. Kitano accepted and agreed to only use the JAGGER CONSIGNMENT sales system. Mr. Kitano is based near Shibuya, and he suggested we begin our trial in that area, expanding to Chiyoda—a district both he and we already knew well. Later many smaller outer suburb coffee bars were added with good effect.
To extend our reach, Mr. Kitano brought in an associate, Ms. Ako Yaguchi, who was already active in similar (non-competitive) product distribution. She introduced our consignment-based offers to a number of her existing retail outlets in Yokohama. She agreed to follow the Jagger Consignment system and quickly obtained substantial repeat orders.
The results were far better than expected. By the end of the first quarter, sales had outpaced our available reserve stocks, with a sell-through rate exceeding 65% across all participating outlets. Recognizing the risk of overextending, we paused recruitment of new locations and focused on maintaining supply to active accounts.
Sell-Through Success:
Across all trial locations, we typically placed either a 12-package or 24- package on consignment. When we returned for follow-up, many outlets had sold well more than half their stock, with some having just 6 or 7 coffee packet left from a 24-pack.
THIS EQUALS A 65% - 75% SELL THROUGH.
This consistent movement of product—without any major advertising—gave us early proof of strong customer interest and retail engagement.
We’ve assured both Mr. Kitano and Ms. Yaguchi that once our production capacity and supply chain are sustainably scaled, they will lead the next rollout phase across Tokyo.
Their early confidence in the product—and the speed at which customers embraced it—has confirmed what we hoped: that the Japanese market is ready for what we offer.
